Upgrading from VS11 Beta to Visual Studio 2012 Release Candidate

I’ve been running Visual Studio 11 Beta for a couple of months and now that RC is here it is time to upgrade.  This was my upgrade experience:

Download Visual Studio Ultimate from: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/11/en-us/downloads#ultimatew

I usually download the ISO, but this time I decided to try to Web Installer, so here is how it went:

imageSelect the Web Installer and you are ready to go.

Agree to license terms:

Select your optional features:

And wait…

About 6 minutes into the install, I required a reboot (I think that this was right after the 4.5 Framework was installed)

After the restart, the installation resumed

And 32 minutes later (including the download)…success!
